Dr. Azadeh Sharifi

Theater und Migration - Dokumentation, Einflüsse und Perspektiven von Migration im europäischen Theater seit 1990 (Arbeitstitel)

Dr. Azadeh Sharifi majored in German studies, philosophy, and law at the University of Heidelberg. In 2011, at the Institute for Cultural Politics at the University of Heidelberg, she obtained her postdoctoral degree under Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schneider with a thesis on Theatre for All? The Participation of Post-migrants as Exemplified by Theatre Stages in the City of Cologne. While developing her thesis, published by Peter Lang Verlag in 2011, she studied, among other places, at Goldsmiths College of the University of London in 2009. In 2010, she assumed responsibility for coordinating and organizing the symposium "Theater and Migration. Challenge and Task for the Culture Society", hosted by the Institute for Cultural Politics of the University of Hildesheim in Cologne's COMEDIA Theater.
With "Migration and Theatre" as her research-related focus, she has been an invited speaker at many different conferences, including Spiel ohne Grenzen? Europa in künstlerischer und kultureller Praxis (Game without Limits? Europe in the Artistic and Cultural Practice), a conference of the theatre sciences department of the University of Mainz; Media and Education: Anti-Muslim Racism in Birmingham and Berlin at the University of Birmingham, Great Britain; and Identity and Culture Constructions in Theatre Education, Berlin University of the Arts, and others.
From 2007 to 2010, she was a fellowship holder of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and from 2010 to 2011 of the FAZIT Foundation. In 2008 and 2010, respectively, she was honored with a grant for emerging academics at the 2nd Interkultur Federal Convention in Nuremberg, and at the 3rd Interkultur Federal Convention in Bochum.
